J.R. grew up playing the viola, taking theatre classes, and modeling. He eventually earned D1 scholarships for track and football. During college he combined his acting, modeling, and athletic skills to become a professional wrestler, receiving a WWE contract. J.R. passed up WWE to play in the NFL, which led to a 6 year career mostly with the Rams. After retirement J.R. opened up several businesses and got back into acting, which he has been featured on multiple commercials, reality shows, and docu-series.
